Agenda Items:

1. Review of Jan 18^th meeting minutes:

2. Parkfest wrap ups/Requests to Join Community:
   • Require update to financial statements - see action item #1
   • Thank you letters still to be sent - are being rewritten with the date change see Action Item #2
   • Bank account change WIP
   • Resella and Lynn from Rockwood Avenue - interested to receive e-mails and possibly recruit
   • Get barriers from City for firetruck
   • MEMBERSHIP list: Concern for street captains
   • Can use volunteer list from Parkfest

3. Spring Flyer:
   • add a reference to free cycle (Pat): www.freecycle.org
   • Membership Drive
   • Altona Road widening

4. 2006 Projects:

   Garage Sale: May 6^th (numbers down last year - we will see the numbers this year)
   See action item #3.

   Parkfest: refer to insurance agent as soon as we can - Brenda to check and Karen to review lower quote from other agent see action item #4.

   Pitch In Party (Neighbourhood cleanup day - June 3rd ?): choose own date; city supply bags and gloves and will pick up the Monday following day at designated area OR
   Earth Day (April 22nd): check with school to see if they do a clean up on that day (Sandy to follow up) - see action item #5

   Decided: April 22^nd for Earth Day cleanup TO BE discussed for next meeting

   Altona Road Improvements:
   • Dalebrook Community Association (east side)
   • Rouge Valley Community Association (now defunct)
   • Talked to mayors' office - no information
   • Pat to talk to Rick Johnson - see action item #7
   Valleyview Park Lighting:
   • area near ravine / playground - would impose on adjacent neighbours
   • also near north end (hidden area)
   • calls to neighbour closes to park not returned to Sandy
   • defer to next month's meeting
   
   

   Durham Community One Ton Challenge:

   • defer to Bonnie's input next time (see action item #9)
   
   
5. Nominations for Pickering Civic Award:
   • deadline Feb 16th (tomorrow) - possible nominations considered - none put forth
   • possibly include in our newsletter - consider for next year

   After the meeting ended, Peter mentioned a Pickering Town Hall meeting to share plans for sustainable growth, being held - 3 nights/3 locations over the next couple of weeks:

   I (Brenda) plan to attend Tuesday Feb 21^st 7-9PM - Pickering Recreation Complex.  Let me know if you'd like to go together.
   Other dates are:
   
   Thursday Feb 23^rd - Petticoat Creek Community Centre 7-9
   Wed March 1^st - Claremont Community Centre 7-9

   
   

Action Items (from Brenda's follow on note):

• To finalize the AGM minutes - Karen please send a revised Financial report to Brenda so it can be incorporated into the minutes and forwarded to Paul Savel for posting along with list of 2006 Executive.
• Thank you notes for Parkfest donations - Peter to finish and distribute to executive for delivery.
• Garage Sale Plans - Peter will reconfirm that Canadian Diabetes Society does pick ups.
• Parkfest Insurance - Brenda to check with her insurance agent to try to get a better price for this year.
• Earth Day Pitch in Party - Brenda to approach Developers for Donations; Jan to confirm no issue with collecting donations while using student labour; Sandy to contact organizer to confirm that AWCA will participate, get further details & to speak to Westcreek school principal to determine if any school plans for Earth Day.
• Street Captain search - Brenda to send Pat list of volunteers from last year's Parkfest.  Peter to send Sandy & Pat the membership lists from last year.
• Altona Street Widening - Pat to call Rick Johnson to determine status of road improvement plans and what would be required to get widening/lights become a higher priority.
• Spring Newsletter - Brenda to brief Ali on discussions from last night.  Need to finalize content at our next meeting.
• Durham Community One Ton Challenge - Brenda to check with Bonnie for further information.
