Rouge Park Neighbourhood Development
April 14th, 2000![]() |
On Monday April 10th, the Rouge Park Neighbourhood Study was presented to Council for approval.
Prior to discussing the report, a Notice of Motion was presented by Councillor Pickles to request that the Ontario Realty Corporation meet with City staff and local environmental groups to work towards protecting the remaining 12.8 hectares of ORC lands that are currently designated as developable. The Notice of Motion as amended here, was approved by Council, and applauded by environmental groups and land owners.
The Altona West Community Association made a presentation on behalf of the community. We requested that Council consider completing the proposed widening of Altona Road prior to any major development in the Rouge Park Neighbourhood. We also stated that the community had environmental concerns with the Map Realty development being planned so close to Amos Ponds. Finally, we indicated that the AWCA was in support of the motion and the study.
Both The "Rouge Park Neighbourhood Environmental Master Servicing Plan" and the "Rouge Prk Neighbourhood Development Guidelines" were approved by Council.
