City Council has approved a plan to increase the number of houses allowed on a parcel of land in the Rouge Park Neighbourhood.  This increase from low to medium density would see 58 semi-detached homes built near the intersection of Altona Road and Finch Avenue.

The application that was submitted by Bopa Developments Inc. is consistant with the Rouge Park Neighbourhood Study approved by Council in April.

The local environmental group that fought for the protection of the envionmentally sensitive lands in this area is opposed to the density increase.  However,  Local Ward 3 Councillor David Pickles believes that this particular parcel is a sufficient distance away from the more sensitive lands, and should not pose any problems.
