AWCA Donation

April 18^th, 2001 Recently, the AWCA donated $300 to the Denise House in Oshawa on  behalf of the Altona West Community.  The organization is a 27 bed shelter  that offers assistance to women and children who have come from abusive environments.

The Denise House accepts other items for donation, including clothing,  toys, and household items.  Quite often the women that rely on this organization  must leave their homes without anything, and have to start over.

If you wish to help, there is a donation centre called Second Chances located at  236 Division Street in Oshawa.  It is open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm on Wednesdays to  accept donations.  As they do not have storage facilities for larger items (couches, beds,  furniture, rugs, etc), they have put a list together of the various items available as they are  offered.  This list is made available to the women that are setting up their new homes.   They can then call and make arrangements to obtain the items that they require.
