As a trustee of the Pickering Public Library Board, I would like to remind you that the AWCA provides a direct link to the Library.  It is also possible to reach the site through www.picnet.org.

As a Board member, I am honoured to work with a dedicated, award winning, service-orientated staff.  They continue to amaze me with their new initiatives including the new Virtual Tour of Pickering.  It is a wonderful way of introducing our community and City to family, friends and businesses.

By meeting the challenges of today, our innovative staff is able to anticipate future needs and plan for tomorrow.  The P.P.L. is one of the most award winning libraries within Ontario.  These prestigious awards include:

When visiting our local Petticoat Creek Branch or the Central Library, look for the spring 2003 newsletter entitled "The Bridge".  It contains a full description of all the programs, services and activities currently offered.

After several months of hard work, the Library Board has implemented the Carver model of Board Governance.  This model will aid future Boards in the governance policies, goals and objectives for the next appointed terms.

Shortly after each municipal election, the City of Pickering Council appoints Board Trustees for a three-year term.  The upcoming election is scheduled to take place during November of this year.  On that note, if you are interested in the Library and are willing to spare a few hours each month, you may want to consider applying for a Trustee position.  If you have any questions, concerns or queries please feel free to call Heather at (905) 509-9347.
