AWCA Community Garage Sale Continues to be Popular!

Our 6^th Annual Community Garage Sale occurred on Saturday May 16^th.  Many participants set up after 9 AM due to the threat of rain clouds overhead.  Fortunately the weather held and a total of 65 homes ended up selling some of their 'treasures'.

The AWCA executive conducted an informal poll of some households.  The most popular items this year seemed to be children's clothing & toys.  One member commented on how having a sale each year allowed them to sell off their children's play items as they move from one life stage to anotherŠ a great idea to keep in mind.

Three quarters of the participants said they would definitely set up again next year and many were first time joiners this year.  Therefore, the tradition is likely to continue in 2006.

Also new this year, we invited participants to contact the Canadian Diabetes Society to pick up remaining (non furniture) items for donation to the charity.  All members had to do was box or bag the items and call 1-800-505-5525 for pick up.  We hope some of you took advantage of this opportunity!
