How Sustainable is Pickering?

• How clean is our air?
• How much renewable energy do we produce?
• How much of the food that we consume is produced locally?

In order to ensure that our community has a bright future, providing benefits over the long term, the City of Pickering is working with residents, businesses and community groups to establish benchmarking standards for sustainable growth in Pickering - where we want to be, how we're going to get there and measuring our progress along the way.  To date, town hall meetings occurred on February 21, 23, March 1 and May 25^th to educate and gain input from the public.

This is one of several important Sustainable Pickering initiatives in progress.  Others include:

• Pickering's Greenhouse Gas Emissions Program
• Sustainable Neighbourhood Plan
• Sustainability Guidelines for New Development in Pickering
• Environmental Awareness Programs
