How Sustainable is Pickering?
Jun 30th, 2006![]() |
- How clean is our air?
- How much renewable energy do we produce?
- How much of the food that we consume is produced locally?
In order to ensure that our community has a bright future, providing benefits over the long term, the City of Pickering is working with residents, businesses and community groups to establish benchmarking standards for sustainable growth in Pickering - where we want to be, how we're going to get there and measuring our progress along the way. To date, town hall meetings occurred on February 21, 23, March 1 and May 25th to educate and gain input from the public.
This is one of several important Sustainable Pickering initiatives in progress. Others include:
- Partners for Climate Protection
- Pickering's Greenhouse Gas Emissions Program
- Sustainable Neighbourhood Plan
- Sustainability Guidelines for New Development in Pickering
- Environmental Awareness Programs
